Are all sessions virtual?
All sessions are virtual which means no commute for you. No need to find a babysitter, or battle Houston traffic. You can log on while your baby is napping or you can close your office door at work. This makes it convenient and accessible for you.
What states can you see clients in?
I’m licensed in Texas and Connecticut and can only see clients who are physically located in one of those two states at the time of our sessions.
How soon can I be seen after reaching out?
My free 15 minute consultations are done within a week of reaching out and can be scheduled with me through my contact page or can be done by you through this link. I keep my caseload manageable so I can actually be present for my clients. Sessions are usually scheduled within a week or two from reaching out.
What do you specialize in?
I specialize in postpartum anxiety, high-functioning anxiety, matrescence (the physical, emotional, and psychological transition of becoming a Mother), postpartum depression, and parenting support
How much does therapy cost, and do you accept insurance?
Individual therapy sessions are 50 minutes and $180. Parent Coaching sessions are $225. I don’t accept insurance directly, but I provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. See my Fees page for full details.
How can I prepare for my first session?
I will send over the paperwork before our first session together, so completing it in advance is helpful. Make sure you have a quiet space with reliable internet. Beyond that, you don’t need an agenda; it’s enough to show up as you are. We’ll figure the rest out together.
What does a first session actually look like?
Mostly a conversation. We’ll talk through what’s going on, what you’re hoping will feel different, your goals, and the work we can do together. No homework, no pressure.
Do you prescribe medication?
No. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I do not prescribe medication. If medication might be helpful for you, we can talk through it together, and I can coordinate with your OB, Primary Care Provider, or a Psychiatrist.
What’s the difference between postpartum anxiety and postpartum depression?
They’re both common and treatable, but they don’t always look the same. Postpartum depression often shows up as sadness, low energy, or feeling disconnected from your baby and your life. Postpartum anxiety often shows up as racing thoughts, constant worry, irritability, or feeling like you can’t relax, even when everything might be technically fine. Many moms experience some of both, and anxiety in particular tends to go unnoticed because it doesn’t always look like struggling and can often be normalized.
How do I know if I need therapy, or if I’m just tired?
If you’re asking the question, that’s usually something worth exploring. I don’t believe everyone needs therapy, so that’s where the free 15-minute consultation comes in handy to see if we’d be a good fit. Most of the Moms I work with are tired of feeling anxious, on edge, or unable to quite reach the person they used to be. They feel as if they’ve lost their identity, and the anxiety and negative thoughts are impacting their daily life and ability to be the Mother they want to be.
Is what I share confidential?
Yes. Sessions are conducted on a secure, HIPPA-compliant platform, and what you share is protected by confidentiality laws and professional ethics. The only time I’d have to break confidentiality is under the case of wanting to hurt yourself, having a plan to hurt others, or child abuse.
Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes, a free 15-minute consultation to talk through what’s going on and see if we’re a good fit. You can do that here.
What’s the difference between Parenting support and Individual therapy?
Parenting Support is more targeted and includes more suggestions and problem-solving. It also typically includes both parents. It focuses specifically on partners getting aligned on their values, setting boundaries, and building connections with their children. Individual therapy tends to go deeper into anxiety, inner thought patterns, childhood experiences and beliefs, and what’s under the day-to-day struggles.
What is your cancellation policy?
I ask for at least 24 hours notice for cancellations. Sessions not cancelled 24 hours in advanced will be charged the full session fee if the session cannot be rescheduled within the week.
